Welcome to the Elevate SAT Tool User Manual

ELEVATE is a pioneering European initiative, funded by the Erasmus+ program, designed to redefine how modern organisations and professional teams develop and maintain their cross-cultural competence. By combining academic research, relational economics, and digital solutions, the project moves beyond traditional, isolated diversity workshops to establish a continuous, data-driven learning cycle.

At the heart of this ecosystem is the Self-Assessment Tool (SAT), a secure web platform designed to audit, analyse and enhance cultural adaptability and collaborative excellence within organisations.

1. Context and Academic Framework

Modern businesses operate in environments of unprecedented cultural complexity. Traditional diversity initiatives often rely on superficial, one-off seminars that group individuals by nationality, sometimes reinforcing stereotypes instead of dissolving them.

ELEVATE introduces a paradigm shift based on Transculturality — a concept developed in partnership with the Leadership Excellence Institute Zeppelin (LEIZ) of Zeppelin University.

Transculturality vs. Traditional Interculturality

  • Classical interculturality: Considers cultures as distinct and isolated spheres, focusing on managing differences and conflicts between predefined groups (e.g., comparing country A to country B).
  • Transculturality: recognises that modern identities are fluid and interconnected. It focuses on identifying common ground, building shared practices, and developing relational skills across cultural boundaries. It treats diversity as a catalyst for collective innovation rather than a boundary to be managed.

Thanks to the academic guidance of Zeppelin University's Transcultural Caravan, ELEVATE's SAT translates the principles of relational economics and transcultural leadership into daily operational workflows.

2. The Objective of the Self-Assessment Tool (SAT)

The Self-Assessment Tool is not a simple questionnaire; it is a comprehensive diagnostic tool that allows organisations to measure their transcultural maturity at the individual, collective and company levels.

Main Objectives of the SAT

  1. Strategic Audit: Providing organisations and teams with a clear, empirical basis for their current cross-cultural competence.
  2. Continuous Development: Break with static training by offering iterative assessments that allow progress and learning to be tracked over time.
  3. Data-Based Analytics: Generate detailed and aggregated reports highlighting the organisation's strengths and the alignment between its different departments.

3. The Way Forward

By standardizing cross-cultural indicators and offering a seamless digital portal, ELEVATE helps organisations transform their cultural diversity into a major operational strength. Whether you're a participant conducting your first assessment, a manager leading a team session, or an owner managing your organisation's rights, this user manual is your go-to guide for navigating the Self Assessment Tool (SAT) platform.
